The CEC has invited observers from international organizations

As everybody knows, in our country is full swing preparing for the upcoming elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which will be held in December 4, this year.

The Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan has sent the official invitation to the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS Executive Committee), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Association of World Election Bodies (A-WEB) to observe the elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In accordance with Article 5 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan" election commissions carry out preparation and holding of elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan openly and publicly. The mass media of the Republic of Uzbekistan cover the process of preparation and holding of the elections.

At all events of the preparation and holding of elections, as well as in polling stations on election day and counting of votes at each polling station have the right to participate per one observer from political parties which nominated candidates for President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, representatives of the print media, TV and radio, observers from other states, international organizations and movements. Their mandates should be confirmed by appropriate documents.

The mandates to observers from other states, international organizations and movements are issued by the Central Election Commission, their activities are regulated by the Provision "On observers from other states, international organizations and movements participating in the elections", approved by the Resolution of the Central Election Commission № 734 dated September 15, 2016 and developed in line with the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan" and "On the Central election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan", as well as the universally recognized norms and principles of international law on the organization and holding of elections.

It should be noted that the participation of foreign and international observers in the elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan serves to strengthen the principles of transparency and openness of the entire electoral process, respect for the principles of democratic elections such as: universality, equality, freedom and secret ballot.

Acting President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Jizzakh region

Acting President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Jizzakh region on 16 September 2016 to evaluate the pace of socio-economic reforms and ongoing wide-scale works in industry, agriculture and social sphere in the region.

During his trip Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Jizzakh city, Pakhtakor, Zafarobod and Dustlik districts.

At the meeting of representatives of Jizzakh region, the activity and huge services of the First President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov in achieving independence of the Homeland, prosperity of our country, strengthening peace and improving welfare of the people have been particularly underscored. The life of this great leader, who has a firm place in the hearts of our people, will be a bright standard for present and future generations. It was noted that further widening the scale of grandiose accomplishments, achieved in the last quarter century, is a duty for each of us.

Besides, the issues related to industrial development in the region, the pace of organization of cotton harvesting and sowing winter crops were analyzed at the meeting, which took place under a critical mood. The tasks on steady development of reforms carried out in the economy, the works on further development communications, construction of new buildings were discussed.

Preparations for the autumn-winter season of the housing sector, social services institutions, ensuring stable operation of industry and other spheres were also on the spotlight of the meeting.

On the same day, the session of the Jizzakh city Council of people’s deputies took place, in which an organizational issue was considered. For serious shortcomings in his work, khokim of Jizzakh city Asror Qobilov was relieved of his post.

On the proposal of the Acting President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Abdukakhkhar Tukhtaev was appointed the khokim of Jizzakh city.

On the same day a number of other organizational issues were considered. For errors and shortcomings in the work, prosecutor of the Jizzakh region and khokims of several districts were relieved of their posts and new candidates were approved to these positions.

Jizzakh region administration were tasked to eliminate the exposed shortcomings, determine the current and future measures on consistent implementation and improvement of effectiveness of the development programs in all spheres and sectors.

Uzbekistan introduces International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities

From 1 January 2017, Uzbekistan is expected to adopt the International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities. The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted this decision, in order to implement a universally recognized classification of economic activities in the interdepartmental interaction of state bodies, its use in the classification of small business entities, as well as further improving the system of statistical, tax and financial reporting.

As noted in the document, the State Statistics Committee has made a transition to the Nationwide qualifier of types of economic activity of the Republic of Uzbekistan, developed on the basis of statistical classification of economic activities in the European Union (NACE).

According to the document, the Ministry for development of information technologies and communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan has been instructed to include the Nationwide qualifier to the registry of directories and classifiers of the system "Electronic government" for its consequent use in information systems and resources of state bodies that contain and process information about legal entities.

In addition, bodies of state administration, the Council of Ministers of Republic of Karakalpakstan, khokimiyats of regions and the Tashkent city have been instructed to:

- strictly follow the Classification of entities when defining the types of organizations;

- ensure the use Nationwide qualifier in the information systems and resources, as well as in interdepartmental electronic interaction.

The document comes into force from 1 January 2017.

On September 19-23, Uzbekistan will host an Information and Communication Technologies Week ICTWEEK Uzbekistan 2016, which will bring together several specialized events into a single format

"The ICT Week aims at discussing practical results that have been achieved in ICT development, demonstration of opportunities and benefits of introduction of ICT in various fields, development trends in information and communication sector, promotion of IT sector in Uzbekistan and expansion of international cooperation", reported the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications.

The ICTWEEK Uzbekistan 2016 will be opened by the Summit on Information and Communication Technologies ICT SUMMIT 2016 in the format of a plenary on September 20 at the International Business Center. It will summarize the development of IT sector in the current year, and spotlight the strategic challenges of the industry.

An annual international exhibition of information and communication technologies ICTEXPO 2016 is an important part of the Week.  This year, it will take place on September 21-23 concurrently in two cities: Tashkent (September 21-23) and Namangan (September 21-22). The idea of holding the exhibition in a network format aroused from the desire to show the increased regional level of information technology development.

The stands at ICTEXPO 2016 will showcase advanced technologies and solutions available on the market of information technologies and services. The exhibition will represent local and international companies that specialize in the production of high-tech products in the field of information technologies: mobile communication, system integration, software engineering, providers of communication services and data transmission, and others.

ICT FORUM 2016 promises to be another spectacular event to highlight the results and achievements of national and international online products and innovations. The Forum will work for two days (September 21-22) and will be held in the format of conferences, breakout sessions, workshops and panel discussions.

The Forum will be a cycle of profile events, including conferences on e-Government Uzbekistan and digital economy, as well as breakout sessions on ‘Information Security’, ‘Internet Forum’, ‘Start-up Conference’

International cooperation

Uzbekistan participates in meeting of CIS Council of Heads of State

On September 16, the delegation of Uzbekistan headed by Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov participated in the regular meeting of Council of Heads of States of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Bishkek.

According to the press service of the Foreign Ministry, the meeting discussed the state and prospects of development of multilateral cooperation within the CIS, saw an exchange of views on topical issues of international and regional character.

The meeting adopted the statement in connection with the 25th anniversary of the CIS, including joint efforts to combat international terrorism.

The next CIS Summit will be held in Russia, which assumed the chairmanship in the Commonwealth in 2017.

On the meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers

On September 16, 2016, in Bishkek, the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov participated in the regular meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Heads of MFAs discussed the preparation to the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS, which is opening on the same day in the capital of Kyrgyzstan.

During the conversation the sides considered the drafts of the agenda, Declaration of Heads of State of the Commonwealth in connection with the 25th anniversary of the CIS and other documents aimed at further deepening of multifaceted cooperation within the organization, which are proposed to be signed at the Summit.

Delegation of Uzbekistan to participate in 71st session of UN General AssemblyTitle

On 21-25 September, 2016, the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov will take part in the General Political Debate at the 71-th Session of the UN General Assembly, which has started its work.

The program of the delegation in New-York also includes a speech at the Coordination Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, a number of bilateral meetings and negotiations.

Paralympics-2016

Uzbekistan wins 31 medals of Paralympic Games

Uzbekistan national team wrapped up its participation in Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). The Uzbek athletes won 31 medals of Paralympics.

Nozimahon Kayumova won the eighth gold medal of Uzbekistan in Women’s Javelin Throw with the result of 44.58 meters.

Uzbekistan won 31 medals of Rio Games, including 8 gold, 6 silver and 17 bronze medals. Uzbekistan clinched the 15th place in general medal classification.

It is worth to mention that 32 athletes from Uzbekistan competed for medals of Paralympics in five sports – athletics, swimming, judo, shooting and powerlifting.
